The 2020 WAEC examination is filled with so much attention that it will be very unlikely that there will be a repetition in a long time. First, it was the COVID-19 pandemic, closely followed by the #ENDSARS protest that rocked the nation.
Latest report reaching us today is that the West African Examinations Council has disclosed that the results of the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination would be released in the first week of November, 2020.
According to the body, the SSCE results which was supposed to be out today, 28th October 2020, was delayed and postponed due to the violence and arson in the country which affected some of its offices and some of its operations nationwide, especially in major cities in Nigeria.
The unrest that we’ve experienced in Nigeria, which is the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests against police brutality had forced governments to impose curfew in their respective states, and in some local government area where the violence is higher.
According the Council, who disclosed this information via it’s official Twitter handle, @waecnigeria tweeted on Wednesday and I quote below:
“WASSCE SC 2020 Results Release Date: Dear candidates, the Council had planned to release the results today in fulfillment of our Project 45 but due to the curfew imposed last week, it had to be postponed till next week.
“The exact date will be made known soon,”.
When we contacted the Head of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Demianus Ojijeogu, he confirmed the development and assured all candidates that the result will be out by this time next week.
