University of Uyo, UNIUYO Postgraduate Admission Form for 2021/22 is Out

Latest report reaching us today is that the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) is now selling Application/Registration Forms for admission into its various postgraduate programs for the 2021/2022 academic session.

The University of Uyo Postgraduate board has placed a public notice, inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Postgraduate Programmes (PGDE, MSc, and Ph.D.) for the 2021/2022 academic session.

UNIUYO Postgraduate Programmes Qualifications.

The UniUyo Postgraduate board disclosed the candidate’s eligibility requirements as follow:

  • To qualify for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programme, applicants should be graduates of the University of Uyo or any other University which MUST be recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo or persons who hold qualifications adjudged by the Senate of the University of Uyo to be equivalent to first degree or holders of recognized Higher National Diploma. This means that any University approved by National University Commissions (NUC) is eligible to apply.
  • To qualify for admission into a master’s degree programme, the interested candidate must have graduated with a Second Class Honours degree in the Lower Division with at least:
    • CGPA of not less than 2.75 on a five-point scale, or
    • CGPA of not less than 2.2 on a four-point scale
  • However, for candidates to be eligible and considered for admission by UNIUYO into a master’s degree programme in the (i) Faculty of Agriculture or (ii) Department of Architecture, it is mandatory that such candidate should be a graduate with at least a Second Class Honours degree in the Lower Division (irrespective of CGPA)
  • Candidates seeking admission into M.Sc Medical Microbiology should be graduates of one of the following:
    • Microbiology,
    • Virology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology (PGDM)
    • MBBCh/MBBS or its equivalent.
  • However, for candidates seeking admission into Doctoral Degree programs, the UNIUYO Postgraduate board disclosed that they are required to be a graduate of the University of Uyo or any other university recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo, who possess Master’s degrees with dissertation and an overall average score of at least 60% (B).

UNIUYO POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

1. The UniUyo Postgraduate Admission board requires all candidates/applicants to have a credit pass at Ordinary Level in five relevant subjects including English Language, which should be obtained at not more than two sittings. However, for candidates with ‘O’ Level examination results before 2016, they must possess and present their certificates and not statements of results or result slips during registration.

2. Candidates seeking admission for LLM and Ph.D. in Law must have credit passes in English Literature as one of the five relevant Ordinary level subjects.

3. The school’s board has made it mandatory that all applicants seeking admission into the Faculty of Agriculture must have credit passes in chemistry as one of the five relevant Ordinary level subjects.

4. All Postgraduate candidates of UniUyo are required to undergo a screening test that will cover the subject area of specialization (but see CBT Section below for exemption). Also, be informed that there will be an oral interview that will focus on the written research proposal earlier submitted by the candidate (but see CBT Section 6 for exemption).

5. Applicants are required to present the following:

  • NYSC Completion Certificates (Discharge Certificates),
  • Exemption Certificates or Exclusion Certificates are required.

Take note that one of these certificates mentioned/listed above must be submitted with the application form or before the screening test is taken.

6. Applicants who obtained their first degrees through Remedial Programmes are required (it is mandatory) to provide evidence of having remedied the relevant subjects for their programmes externally; that is, through WASCE, NECO, NABTEB.

7. In addition to other qualifications, it is important to note here that you MUST meet the departmental requirements for their programmes to be offered admission.

8. The Uniuyo Postgraduate school disclosed that all applying candidates must return their completed application forms with three hard copies of their:

  • Project Proposal (for those applying for PGD),
  • Dissertation Proposal (for those applying for master’s programme),
  • Thesis Proposal (for those applying for PhD programmes).

Take bite that the research proposal must be captured on the prescribed Postgraduate School Proposal Sheet should be word-processed with Times New Roman, font size 12, and double line spacing using the following heading and subheadings:

    • TITLE (22 words maximum)
    • CANDIDATE’S NAME
    • ABSTRACT (150 words maximum)
    • INTRODUCTION/AIMS/Objectives
    • RELEVANCE OF STUDY
    • METHODOLOGY
    • ETHICAL ISSUES
    • EXPECTED RESULTS
    • INNOVATIONS
    • REFERENCES
      1. What is written under Methodology may be more than one page but the text for all other subheadings should be less than 25 lines or not more than one page.
      2. The objectives of the study should be unbundled into (i) General objectives and (ii) Specific Objectives.
      3. Under Ethical Issues, give a conspectus explanation of relevant ethical issues that you will consider during the course of conducting your research.
      4. Under Innovation, explain the new invention, new knowledge, a new approach or new ways of doing things, etc that your research will produce. Results obtained by applying the extant methodology in a new environment may not be regarded as an innovation.
      5. Use surname of authors followed by their initials. Arrange entries in your reference list using alphabetical order of the surname of the first author. Do not abbreviate journal names or any other proper name in the reference entries. Use single line spacing for each entry. Two adjacent entries should be separated by double line space. Use hanging indentation format for each entry. Do not use “et al” in the reference list; list the names of all authors.
      6. Under Expected Publications, list the complete titles of research articles that you expect to come out of your research when completed. For each title listed, give the name of the journal that such article will be published or academic conference it will be presented.
  1. The Postgraduate school mandates that all applying candidates should ensure that their official academic transcript(s) and three letters of reference are forwarded under confidential cover to:

  2. Admissions will not normally be offered without the transcript(s) and letters of reference.

UNIUYO Postgraduate Programmes Duration.

  1. Master’s Degree Program: A minimum period of four semesters or a maximum of six semesters.
  2. Ph.D. Programme: A minimum of six semesters or a maximum of ten semesters.
  3. PGD in Education: Minimum of two semesters or a maximum of four semesters.
  4. PGD in Educational Technology: Minimum of two semesters and maximum of four semesters.
  5. PGD in Engineering: Minimum of four semesters and a maximum of six semesters.
  6. PGD in All Other Courses: Minimum of two semesters and a maximum of four semesters

It is essential to note here that all programs in the Postgraduate School are full-time. Part-time programs are domiciled in the School of Continuing Education.

How to Register for UNIUYO Postgraduate Admission.

The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) Postgraduate Registration/Application Forms can be accessed ONLINE through the institution’s official portal, and every applicants are required to pay the sum of N20,000.00 (Twenty Thousand Naira) only:

To pay, simply generate the Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) via https://uniuyo.edu.ng/eportals and make payment online using ATM Card or you can visit any commercial bank in Nigeria to pay for this form.

After you have successfully paid the application fee, return to the portal to complete your registration by clicking on the Admission forms Link, then e-Forms, then Register link and enter your RRR.

UniUyo Postgraduate Online Registration and Payment Instruction.

  1. Applicants are to visit the https://uniuyo.edu.ng/eportals or uniuyo.edu.ng (Click on e-portals link)
  2. Next, Select Admission Forms Link.
  3. Select e-Form(s) Option
  4. You are required to Select Programme Type (Example; Masters(Full-Time) etc) as the Admission Form Type.
  5. Type in your Phone Number, Name, and Email in their respective box.
  6. Click on the PAY NOW button to make payment.
  7. Take note that payment can be made online or Bank branch via Remita Platform.
  8. After you’ve successfully paid, return to the online portal and click on Register Link.
  9. Note your Login credentials generated
  10. Login and complete your registration.

REGISTRATION CLOSING DATE:

All Application Forms are considered complete if they are attached with the following:

  • photocopies of relevant credentials,
  • duplicate copy of the receipt of payment for the Application Form,
  • three copies of a research proposal, etc should be forwarded to reach the Secretary, Postgraduate School, the University of Uyo on or before February 26, 2022.

The Postgraduate school disclosed that applying candidates will be required to take a screening test on a date that is yet to be announced.
