Plateau State University (plasu) Renamed To Solomon Lar University: Reasons

The Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang had on Friday in Abuja, renamed the Plateau State University (plasu) after Chief Solomon Lar, the late first executive Governor of the state.

The Governor did announced this at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in FCT. Abuja, where the body of the late politician were formally received on arrival from London.

The remains of Chief Solomon Lar arrived at the airport at 6.00 a.m. aboard a British Airways flight BA-O83 from London where he died on the 9th of October 2013, and he died at the age of 80.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also report that Chief Solomon Lar, who was also the pioneer National Chairman of the PDP, midwifed the formation of the party and led it to victory in the 1999 general elections.

Governor Jang also announced that the 11th of December to the 13th of December, the state would observed these 3 days as mourning days in Plateau to honour the great chief and pioneer.

Governor Jang also declared that on December 13th, the day Chief Solomon Lar would be finally laid to rest, would be observed as a work-free day in the state.

May the soul of Chief Solomon Lar rest in Peace.
