Unijos Students Fights School’s Govt over Hike in Fees

Latest information reaching our news desk today, is that the students of the University of Jos (unijos) did staged a protest following a full complete 100% increase in school fees. ‎According to a Dailyschoolnews correspondent, the protesting students set fire in front of the school gate this afternoon, still saying that the school government must reduce the fees!

When we contacted a student in the school, we discovered and verified that the school fee, which was previously N27,800 (Twenty seven thousand, eight hundred naira only) has now been increased to a whooping sum of #60,000 (Sixty thousand Naira).

The students also claimed that they were forced by the university authority, to pay for developmental levy which has never been used for any development which is visible within the school environment. The protesting students also disclosed to our correspondent, saying that when they asked the student union government (sug) to speak with the Vice Chancellor of the university Prof. Hayward Babale Mafuyai, the Vice chancellor plainly refused to negotiate with members of the SUG.

Following his refusal to speak with students, they took to the streets to protest, blocking all roads leading to the university of Jos thereby bringing all activities to a standstill.
