Yes, the ASUU Strike has really gone far, and it seems Primary school pupils are also joining the wagon of Nigerians protesting against the strike, which we believe is long overdue.
Some primary school pupils in Osun state, on July 25th, staged a protest in front of the Obafemi Awolowo University campus in Ile-Ife, sending a message to both the Federal government and Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to find a lasting solution to this prolonged ASUU strike.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has been on strike since February 14, 2022. It first started as a three-week warning strike, but the three weeks have magically turned into a 6 months strike and still counting.
This situation is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future. The lecturers are demanding better funding for universities among other things.
The protesting pupils carried different placards which read numerous messages like:
- ”Don’t borrow our future away”
- ”I am the future ASUU make no mistake about it”
- ”I am the future ASUU Don’t forget”.
We pray and hope this strike comes to an end very soon.
