The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) are not left alone to fight this war, as the academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has also pledge their support to the union, in their fight for equity, among others.

The protesting lecturers has at various tertiary institutions, been told by the ASUU chapter that they have the backing of their national union, ASUU.

This interesting information was disclosed to our correspondent, Faith. What made this article/information interesting is that several news we got from various varsities disclosed that the moment the federal government approves the removal of dichotomy, the ASUU union will immediately go on strike. (But please, this information is not yet verified, but that would be another news, for another day).

The support for the fight the ASUP union is in against the federal government was disclosed to our correspondent by the National Treasurer of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Dr. Ademola Aremu, during a brief telephone conversation.

Important Notice

We would love you to note that lecturers at the University of Abuja were recently blamed for not being discreet in the way they are handling issues with their Vice-Chancellor while the striking lecturers at the Lagos State University, LASU, have vowed not to resume until their grievance are addressed.

the treasurer of ASUU, Dr. Aremu believes that they are fighting a just cause, which is for the betterment of their students, which the ASUU national body clearly agrees with.

“The case in UNIABUJA has to do with the school Vice Chancellor who has been lobbying, so that the report by the government’s visitation panel will not be made public.

The asuu treasurer also went on to say this and we quote him directly:

“He has been sitting on the panel for about two to three years now. There is no infrastructural development and the lecturers, who have been laboring and teaching the students for years now, have been left without promotion for years. These are the issues they are addressing,”.

Dr. Aremu also went further to disclosed that “the LASU management board/leadership should see for themselves if they pay their lecturers and see if work will not go on smoothly.

“These anomalies should be stopped at all costs because it is not helping our educational development in anyway.

“We cannot continue to be held to ransom by school authorities who are not following stipulated agreements and due process”.
