Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) NASU Embarks on Strike Action

Latest information reachung our news desk today, is that the non-academic staff Union of Akwa Ibom State University (aksu) has been directed in a notice by the branch Chairperson to embark on an indefinite strike to show the school their grievance.

According to the information which was posted on the notice, which reads;

This is in compliance with the National industrial court judgement of 1st of April, 2014 and the tripartite agreement, which was signed by the Akwa Ibom State labour leaders, Aksu management and the registered trade unions on campus on the 2nd of July, 2014 whose ultimatum expired on the 2nd of August, 2014.

So therefore, we would love to notify and inform all Non teaching staff, that they are hereby directed by the Union, to embark on an industrial strike action, starting from Monday, the 22nd of September 2014, and this will be till further notice as agreed by the congregation.

Which is to say, that with these recent development, we would love to notify the general public, especially all concerned persons, that both academic and non-academic activities in Akwa Ibom State University are halted until resolutions are made.
