NDA Postgraduate Programmes Admission Requirements

This guide is for those who are interested in applying for the NDA postgraduate programmes. Take note that these are the requirements for the various programmes which are listed below:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree: Applicant who are interested in applying for Ph.D degree must possess a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) at Bachelor Degree and a Master’s Degree in the proposed field of study from a recognized University.

It is also important that such candidate, to ensure that his application is successful, must have scored an average of not less than 60% or 3.50% at the Masters level.

Masters (MA, M.Eng and M.Sc) Degrees:

For Candidates interested in obtaining a Masters Degrees from NDA, is expected to be a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy or any other recognised University. Applicants interested in obtaining MA, M.Eng and M.sc must possess a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in the relevant field of study.

Professional Doctorate Programmes

This is for all persons who are interested in obtaining Academic Masters degree in relevant disciplines within NDA.

Take note that obtaining a Professional Masters degree in cognate discipline with CGPA of not less than 3.50.

Applicants are required to have significant working experience in public service or Private Sector with solid evidence of managing resources, corporate strategy, defence, security and strategic sector governance.

Master’s Degree

This is for all candidates who are interested in applying for the part-time programmes into NDA. The school management has made it mandatory that each applicant must possess a Bachelor degree with a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division).

While for candidates with Third Class degree or Higher National Diploma are expected (MUST) possess a Postgraduate Diploma in a related discipline from any recognised Academic University to be qualified for admission.

While for all Higher National Diploma (HND) holders interested in obtaining a Masters Degree in NDA, they must possess a minimum of Lower Credit to apply.

PGD Programmes

All persons who are interested in applying for the Postgraduate Diploma programme, MUST possess a Bachelor degree from the Nigerian Defence Academy or any other recognised University, or Higher National Diploma.

Duration of NDA Postgraduate Programmes

Anyone who is granted admission into NDA for PhD or Master’s Degree, must Pursue a FULL-TIME course of study and research in the Academy. However, depending on the degree in view, the following conditions are also applicable:

• A student for the Master’s degree shall pursue the programme for 2 years (which is 4 semesters only)
• Admitted student for PhD Degree will pursue the programme for 3 years (which is 6 semesters only).

However, at the expiration of the period of study for any given programme, a student who has not completed his/her programme shall be withdrawn from the Academy with immediate effect.

Although on exceptional circumstances, the academy will offer application extension to complete the programme. However, take note that extension shall not exceed a period of one year (2 semesters) in case of Masters degree and 2years (4 semesters) in case of PhD.

Duration of NDA Professional Part-Time Postgraduate Programmes

These are the duration of professional programmes as listed below:

• A student for professional Doctorate degree will pursue the programme for 3 years.
• A student who is studying Master degree shall pursue the programme for 18 months (2) semesters course work and (1) semester for project except MBA programme which runs for 2 years.
• A student admitted into NDA to study Postgraduate diploma shall pursue the programme for one year (2 semesters). Except Engineering courses which runs for 2 years.

It is very important to note here, that each student who is admitted for professional master degree and postgraduate diploma programme, shall pursue weekend mode of study and research on Fridays and Saturdays for the period of the study.

• All applying candidates are required to purchase “Access Codes”. You can buy the Access Codes either through the official website, or through REMITA.

• The NDA PG form price is N10,000.00 only.

• Take note that once an applicant purchases the Access Codes, the candidate is expected to log on to official Portal (https://pg.nda.edu.ng/) and complete the Online application Form.

Please do take note that your application for Admission into NDA Postgraduate Programme is not complete until all copies of your  Credentials, including

• Acknowledgement Form,
• Application for Transcripts form,
• Medical Report Form,
