What is the Reason for the Change?
Apart from the slogan which brought the president into Power, (slogan is: Change) the new changes have really shaken the educational sector to it’s core, as some of the biggest chief executives were removed from seat.
For those who are not aware, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has a large part of attention in the whole controversy surrounding 2016 admision into tertiary institutions in the country. JAMB sent out the 2016 list of admitted students to various Universities and just yesterday, the board withdrew the admission list from universities and other institutions without giving the next line of action. We guess this was the handiwork of the change of power from previous jamb registrar, Dibu Ojerinde to the new boss, Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede.
What You Need to Know About NEW Jamb Registrar
The newly appointed Jamb registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede was the Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, from October, 2007 and was also the Chairman Committee of Vice-Chancellors (CVC) from 2011 to 2012. He was until January, 2011, the president of Association of African universities (AAU). Prof. Oloyede have received several accolades for his good work towards the enhancement of Nigeria educational sector.
Other wonderful and highly privileged positions held by Prof. Is-haq Oloyede are as follows:
Prof. Oloyede served as the board of many reputable university organisations. He was the Chairman, Committee of Directors of Academic planning in Nigerian Universities – 2002 to 2004.
The newly appointed Jamb registrar was until his voluntary resignation in 2011, the President of the Association of African Universities (a position he relinquished to pave way for another Nigerian-the immediate vice-chancellor of NOUN)- to assume office as the CEO/Secretary General of the association.
From all indications and from what we have seen of The University of Ilorin (unilorin) Professor Oloyede has the requirements for a great registrar. But will he be able to fill this position admirable?
Can he steer this ship without destroying the hopes of Millions of Students in Nigeria?
ONLY Time will tell.
