ASUP Strike Will Go ON Till FG Meets Our Demands

According to information reaching us today, the National President of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Mr Chibuzor Asomugha, has stated that the ongoing strike which is embarked upon by the academic union will continue until the Federal Government meet their demands.

Mr. Chibuzor also made it very clear and known to the general public, at the 12th ASUP National Delegates Conference (NDC) at the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, on Wednesday.

According to National President, the union is prepared and all members are determined to pursue their course.

Mr Asomugha also went further to disclose to the delegates that Elder Orwell Onukaogu, who unilaterally dissolved Abia State Polytechnic, Aba executive union, “must certainly leave the office he’s currently occupying right now.”

The chairman of the occasion, Dr Obasi Oko of the Federal polytechnic, Nekede (nekedepoly), also urged all polytechnics to involve in research like their university counterparts.

Before declaring the conference open, the Rector of Federal polytechnic, Nekede, Dr (Mrs) C.U. Njoku, said “Antagonism can not take Nigeria as a country beyond her current positions as the progressive trend is that of collaboration and cooperation.

We hope that ASUP and ASUU soon call off their strikes and everything gets resolved amicably.
