University of Ilorin- Unilorin To Build 1,675 Room Hostels

I’m so happy to inform all University of Ilorin -UNILORIN that the current issue which most of they are facing, would soon drastically reduce, because two developers have expressed their intention to build a massive hostel facilities of 1,675 rooms in the University.

At a separate meetings with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, Principal Officers, Provost, Deans and the Directors of the University had last Thursday, on April 11th 2013, the two developers, IBFC Nigeria Limited and Alpha Morgan, said they had concluded all necessary arrangements to commence work on the projects subject to the approval of the University authority.

The first company planning this, IBFC, represented at the meeting by its Director General, Mr. Saidu Garba, says that they will build five blocks of 1375 rooms, three for female students and two for male students.

While on the other hand, Alpha Morgan will build three blocks hostel facility of 300 rooms, while two will be build for female students and one for postgraduate students.

While the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the IBFC project was signed last thursday, which was held on the 11th of April, 2013, that of Alpha Morgan is expected to be signed within the next seven days.

The Vice Chancellor had signed the papers on behalf of the University while Mr. Garba signed on behalf of his company.
While briefing the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) management shortly after the signing of the MoU, the IBFC Chief Executive said the company had agreed to build 1375 rooms, under the terms of Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT).

Mr. Garba also emphasize that the work would commence at the site in three weeks time, adding that the company would provide independent power supply, independent water supply and internet facilities for use by students accommodated in these hostels.
Mr Garba also disclosed that the hostels would be equipped with the following.

1. Relaxation centre,
2. Common room,
3. Gymnasium,
4. Kiosks.
