University of Lagos – Unilag Resumption Date and Revised Calendar For 2021 Announced

Authorities of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have announced its resumption date and released a revised academic calendar for 2019/2020 academic session.

The Unilag’s management has approved January 25th as the resumption date for academic activities.

Speaking on the Unilag resumption date, head of the Media Unit of the university, Mrs Olufadeke Akinleye, disclosed to newsmen that the institution would commence online classes on the announced date due to the second wave of COVID-19.

It’s no longer news that the Nigeria government had approved January 18 for schools to reopen across the country.

However, various branches of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had said that varsities were not ready for reopening because Nigerian universities are not equip to follow the COVID-19 protocols.

When contacted, Vice Chancellors of various state and federal universities said they were ready to reopen their institutions as directed by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) and some universities have started online lectures.

While the management board of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) had announced that the institution would resume academic activities on January 30th.

Management board of Bayero University Kano (BUK), on Monday, approved the commencement of a new academic session, starting on 18th January, 2021, while the second semester would commence on May 3rd, 2021.

The Ekiti State University (EKSU) management has also announced that they’ll be resuming online academic activities from January 18th.
