Latest educational news reaching us today, is that the students of The Polytechnic, Ibadan Monady, did brought academic activities to a stop yesterday, as they blocked all gates to protest erratic power supply in the academic institution.
According to some of the students who plead to remain anonymous, has this to say:
Power supply has been so terrible in the school recently.
We, the students have just stated our plight to the school authority, we have been experiencing perpetual darkness at nights in the school since they carried out a repair work on the generator, and this situation has become un-bearable.
The School governing body also react to this issue, as the Ibadan Polytechnic Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole, said:
We started having problem with students when the power generating set went bad.
The generator required overhauling and it is taking time to put it in order.
The School management is aware of this situation, and we currently understand that the students were not happy about the situation but the matter should have been tabled rather than engaging a protest.
However, the situation was later put other control, as the academic institution promise that power would be available between 6am and 7am and 8pm to 11pm daily.
Hope they keep up with their promise
