Newly Elected Governor Wike Renames Rivers State Polytechnic

THE newly elected Governor of Rivers State, Governor Wike has officially renames Rivers State Polytechnic To Saro Wiwa Polytechnic.

According to information reaching our platform, the Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike has just renamed the Rivers State Polytechnic after the late author and environmental rights activist from Ogoniland, Ken Saro-Wiwa.

Starting from today, the academic institution will henceforth be known as Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Rivers State.

The Governor said that this gesture is to honour the legacies and achievements of the late activist.

In a public statement which was released to the general public and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sir, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, the governor said and we quote him below:

“In honour of Ken Sawo Wiwa monumental achievements and legacies, not just in Rivers State, but Nigeria as a whole, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has renamed the Rivers State Polytechnic in Bori as Ken Ule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic.

He went further to disclose this “The memories of great men like the late Saro-Wiwa, who had given all his life, fighting selflessly for the betterment of society and humanity should not be consigned to oblivion, more so, when such personalities are revered beyond the shores of the country.”
