LATEST information reaching our news desk today, is that the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) is using this platform, to inform and invites all interested persons, most especially, all applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Certificate Programmes of the Centre for Sandwich and Skill Acquisition of the Institute of Education, which is also in collaboration with the College of Continuing Education, for 2014/2015 Academic Session.

A. TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
1. Department of Educational Management: The Education Social Science(Which is specifically for candidates offering the following courses:
Economics,
Accounting,
Political Science,
Geography).
2. Department of Educational Foundations: Education Arts (This is also for candidates who are offering the following course:
English,
French,
Religious Studies,
History).
3. Department of Curriculum Studies and Educational Technology: Education Science: (This is specificially for candidates offering the following courses listed below:
Physics,
Chemistry,
Biology,
Mathematics,
Computer Science).
B. PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMMES
1. Department of Adult and Non-formal Education
2. Department of Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling
3. Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERESTED APPLICANTS
All candidates should take note that the Programmes are open to applicants who have any of the following minimum qualification:-
1. Department of Educational Management
i. Credit passes at the Ordinary Level in at least three relevant subjects in:
West African School Certificate/
National Examination Council Certificate/
NABTEB/
General Certificate of Education,
including at least a Pass in English Language.
While for Economics or Accounting option, credit pass in any of the below mentioned subjects:
Mathematics,
Economics is compulsory.
ii. Credit or Merit passes in at least three relevant subjects in Teacher Grade Two Certificate including at least Merit in English Language.
While for Economics or Accounting option, a credit pass in Mathematics and Economics is compulsory.
2. Department of Curriculum Studies and Educational Technology
i. Credit passes at the Ordinary Level in at least three relevant subjects in any of the below exams:
West African School Certificate/
National Examination Council Certificate/
NABTEB/
General Certificate of Education,
Which should at lest, contain a Pass in English Language.
ii. Credit or Merit passes in at least three relevant subjects in Teacher Grade Two Certificate including at least Credit or Merit in English Language.
3. Department of Educational Foundations
i. Credit passes at the Ordinary Level in at least three relevant subjects in:
West African School Certificate/
National Examination Council Certificate/
NABTEB/
General Certificate of Education, including at least a Pass in English Language.
ii. Credit or Merit passes in at least three relevant subjects in Teacher Grade Two Certificate, including at least Credit or Merit in English Language.
4. Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education
i. Credit passes at the Ordinary Level in at least three relevant subjects in:
West African School Certificate/
National Examination Council Certificate/
NABTEB/
General Certificate of Education, including at least a Pass in English Language and Biology.
ii. Credit or Merit passes in at least three relevant subjects in Teacher Grade Two Certificate, including at least Merit in English Language and Biology
5. Department of Adult and Non Formal Education
i. Credit passes at the Ordinary Level in at least three relevant subjects in West African School Certificate/National Examination Council Certificate/NABTEB/General Certificate of Education, including at least a Pass in English Language.
ii. Credit or Merit passes in at least three relevant subjects in Teacher Grade Two Certificate, including at least Merit in English Language.
6. Department of Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling
i. Credit passes at the Ordinary Level in at least three relevant subjects in West African School Certificate/National Examination Council Certificate/NABTEB/General Certificate of Education, including at least a Pass in English Language.
ii. Credit or Merit passes in at least three relevant subjects in Teacher Grade Two Certificate, including at least Merit in English Language.
MODE OF STUDY: Regular and Weekends.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME
All interested applicants should take note that the duration of the Programme is 1 year for Regular and 2 years for Weekends.
C. TECHNICAL EDUCATION

Handset Repairs;
Carpentry and Joinery;
Plumbing and Pipe Fitting;
Painting and Decoration;
Welding and Fabrication;
Building and Craftsmanship;
Electrical and Maintenance Works;
Radio, Television and Electrical Works;
Instrument and Mechanic Work;
Appliance Maintenance and Repair Craft Practices;
Computer Craft General Studies;
Photography;
Craft;
General Metal Works;
Bricklaying;
Block Laying, Concrete Work and Furniture Making.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL INTERESTED APPLICANTS
Take note that the minimum requisite qualification for entry to the above listed courses include the following listed below:
i. You must possess a Credit passes in at least three (3) subjects in West African School Certificate, NECO, SSCE, NABTEB/General Certificate of Education.
ii. You should also have a redit or Merit passes in at least three (3) subjects in Teacher Grade Two certificate including at least merit in English Language and any science subject.
Take note that the Equivalent qualification which together with relevant experience are deemed acceptable by the Faculty Board and the Senate for admission into the Programme.
PROGRAMME DURATION:
From 4 weeks to 4 months.
METHOD OF APPLICATION (FOR A-C)
a.) We would love to inform and notify all interested persons, that the Application Forms can be obtained online on payment of non-refundable fee of N8,150.00 (Eight Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty Naira), starting from Monday, the 2nd of February, 2015.
b.) Application Forms can be obtained online on payment of non-refundable fee of N5,000.00 (Five Thousand Naira) from Monday, the 2nd of February, 2015.
c.) Application Forms can also be be obtained online on a payment of non-refundable fee of N4,000.00 (Four Thousand Naira) starting from Monday, the 2nd of February, 2015.
It’s also important to note here, that all Application Forms for the various programmes can be found online.
You can visit or log on to the school portal at www.uniport.edu.ng and click on ‘register’ to sign up and print out your payment slip.
When you have successfully print out your payment slip, proceed to any of the below mentioned Banks listed and pay to obtain an e-Tranzact receipt:
1. Uniport – Choba Micro Finance Bank
2. United Bank for Africa (UBA)
3. First Bank Plc.
4. Fidelity Bank Plc.
5. Ecobank Plc.
When you have gone to any of the above mentioned banks and got your e-Tranzact receipt, proceed and log back to your account and verify your payment using the Confirmation Order Number on the e-Tranzact receipt.
After that, proceed and fill in the necessary information,
Then Upload your passport photograph,
Finally, print out your photocard for the Screening Test.
Application Closing Date
All interested students should take note that the sales of the Application Forms for (A-C) will close on Friday, 6th March, 2015.
The sale of Form for the Short Courses is continuous, no closing date as they take place 3 – 5 times.
SCREENING TEST
There will be a University Screening Test which will be Computer-Based. The Screening Test will take place on Friday, the 13th of March, 2015.
