NECO Records A Ground Breaking 50% Improvement In SSCE For This Year

The National Examination Council (NECO) has finally released the much anticipated 2012 June/July Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) result with over 50 percent credit and above pass levels in basic subjects as against 22 percent average pass which was recorded in last year. The National Examination council has also made an announcement as the Body has de-recognised 13 schools in the states mentioned below in Nigeria. 1. Adamawa State. 2. Anambra State. 3. Benue State. 4. Cross River State. 5. Imo State. 6. Nasarawa State. 7. River States.:

The NECO body has also made it clear that for a period of two years for serious examination malpractices, the 13 schools in the states mentioned above are De-recognised from the NECO Examination Board.

The Registrar, Professor Promise Okpala, had made it clear that the council who announce the release of the result in a news conference yesterday in Minna revealed that 49.3 percent out of the 1,087.627 that participated for the English Language Examination passed at credit level and above, up from 22 percent when compared to the figure of last year.

This Year’s NECO stats which was released by Registrar, said that 50.4 percent out of the 1,088,530 that sat for Mathematics obtained credit and above, as against 25 percent which was recorded in last year.

The Statistics also showed that 554,884 candidates has passed English Language at credit level, contrary to 265,000 candidates last year.

The Statistics Being released by the Professor also stats that in Mathematics, 567,011 passed with credit and above, as against 299,000 which was recorded last year.

The Registrar also said that the level of improvement, in line with the Federal Ministry of Education’s zero tolerance to examination malpractice, 13 schools in the above Mentioned Seven (7) states had been blacklisted from participating in NECO examination for the two years!. This is truly a wonderful improvement.
