College of Education Lecturers Determine To Continue Strike Until FG Address the Problem Properly.

Educational information reaching us today, is that the Colleges of Education, publicly known as (COEASU) are set to continue with their current on-going Nationwide strikes as an Expanded National Executive Council, ENEC, meeting held ended in deadlock.

The ENEC meeting, which was called on the 15^th of March, and the Venue was at the Niger State Collage of Education, Minna.

While speaking exclusively on the result of the meeting, the chairman of COEASU at the College of Education, Zuba, Abuja, Ahmed Bazza, told reporters that the lecturers resolved to continue with the strike till the federal government has address the issue brought before them properly before they’ll call off this strike.

Here are the exact words of Ahmed Bazza, who said and we quote:
“The COEASU union is determined to continue the strike action due to the failure of government to address the issues in contention as earlier stated”.

Mr. Ahmed went further to said that the lecturers’ demands includes the following:

1. Proper funding of the colleges,
2. Adequate welfare for lecturers.

To refresh your memory, the lecturers did commence their strike on the 18^th of December, 2013 after several failed meetings the Senate had with the Nigeria government representatives.

Currently, the Nigeria’s Colleges of Education which are supposed to, among others, train teachers who would be able to teach in Nigeria’s primary, secondary, and post Secondary schools are on strike, the question then is “Who is training our teachers?”

Right now, the question have no answer, as even Polytechnics have been on strike for the past 6 months now.

We just hope that federal government gets everything under control and the educational wheel run smoothly in Nigeria.
