15 States Will Not Resume on 22nd September 2014

We were able to gather, that about fifteen (15) States in Nigeria will have chosen not to resume on the 22nd of September 2014, which was the directives given by the Nigeria federal government.

The states which shun the directives are:
Rivers State,
Oyo State,
Ekiti State,
Osun State,
Benue State,
Niger State,
Zamfara State,
Adamawa State,
Kano State,
Kwara State,
Kogi State,
Akwa Ibom State,
Ebonyi State,
Lagos State,
Ogun State.

The main reason why these above listed states shun the directives by the federal government not to resume on the 22nd is because, the teachers are insisting that safety measures must be put in place to protect them and their pupils from contracting the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, and only when this has been accomplished will they happily resume teaching.

We were also able to learn that teachers in Lagos State had been duty from the 22nd of September, but pupils had been ordered to remain at home and resume activities on the 8th of October.

The strongest support however, is coming directing from the Nigeria Union of Teachers, which had in some of the above listed states, ordered its members to shun academic activities until the state or federal government have provided the required health gadgets in schools to ensure not only their safety but that of their pupils.
