Osun State Lecturers Disobeys Court Order, As Strike Continues

The Court had yesterday, order Lecturers in the four tertiary institutions, which is owned by Osun State Government, to resumes lectures with immediate effect.
But News reaching us here in DailyschoolNews is that the Lecturers in the Four tertiary institutions, have purely disobey the Court order which directed them to resume classes.
If you could recalled, the Lecturers had in the past six weeks, embarked on an indefinite strike, which they used, as a means to press home their demands among others, here are their demands.

★ Elongation of their retirement age from the age of 60 to 65 years.
★ A full implementation of contributory pension scheme.
★ Removal of new tax regime in the state.
★ Poor funding and inadequate staffing.

While ruling on an order of interlocutory injunction filed by three students’ union presidents on behalf of the institutions on Wednesday, Justice Oyejide Falola had directed the Rectors and Provosts of the affected institutions to resume full academic activities pending on the determination of the originating summons.

The presidents of the student unions, for and on behalf of the students of the four institutions as named below:
Muideen Kareem,
Rauf Akindele,
Mattew Adegboyega
Abiodun Oshun,

had dragged management of their institutions and government before the Osogbo High Court demanding immediate re-opening of the institutions so that they could continue their programmes.
While Counsel to the plaintiffs had asked the court for an order of interlocutory injunction directing the Rectors and Provosts of the institutions, jointly and severally, to open their various academical institutions for them to resume academic activities pending the determination of the originating summons.

We just hope that the Osun State Government do some about this, since there are Hundred of thousands of Students who wants to resume academic activities and finish their programme.
