Protest Rally: Polytechnic students take over Abuja Expressway to Protest tuition fee

Latest information reaching our news desk today, is that some students of the Ondo State very owned Polytechnic, the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, which is in Owo, Ondo state.

According to our correspondent, who said that this morning, been the 7th of July, the polytechnic students took over the Owo/Abuja expressway to protest the recent hike in their school fees.

In case you have not heard, the Management board of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic recently increased the annual school fees of students of National Diploma in sciences from their normal: ₦21,300 to ₦58,300.

While the National Diploma (ND) students from ₦53,800 to ₦73,000.
A levy of N20,000 was also imposed on non-indegenes of the state by the school leadership/management.

The angry students of the polytechnic took their grievance to the streets, as some students even went as far as locking up the offices of the rector, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun and thereafter took over the express road to drive home their anger.
