Nigeria Universities – Polytechnics and College of Education news Nigerian Educational News | Zenith Of Educational NewsLatest educational news reaching us today, is that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has declared that the union has lost it’s confidence in the ability of the Nigerian Federal Government to resolve current ongoing face-off between the Union and the Federal government.
According to a statement which was released by the ASUU Chairman, Comrade Anthony Monye-Emina who stated while chatting with newsmen at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) vowed that the Academic Staff Union of Universities must continue with the strike to achieve its desired purpose once and for all.
The ASUU boss also said that the Union had lost faith in the Federal Government, since the federal government have failed to remain committed to the terms of the agreement it entered into with the government as far back as 1999.
The Boss did not stop there, as he insists that one of the reasons they are insisting that their demands must be met is because the government initially denied the existence of the 2009 agreement which was signed by its officials.
“We can no longer trust government; we have lost faith in its willingness to deliver on the issues that led to the strike in the first place,” he said.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chairman is also using the medium, to call upon the Federal Government to find a permanent solution to the impasse so students could return to school.
I don’t really know what else to say, if ASUU chairman has loss faith in the federal government, then what is the fate of the Nigerian students?
