Why The Names Of Expelled Students Were Published – UNILORIN Dean of Study

According to the Dean of Student Affairs in the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Prof. Lawal Omotesho, has disclosed that the publication of the names of 24 expelled students was to serve as deterrent to other students of the school who are involved in one illegal business or another.

The dean of student affair, Mr. Omotesho told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin that the university expelled the students for various acts of misconduct.

In his exact word, “The fact that the university expelled the student is not new, but their names had to be published to serve as warning to fresh students.
This is also necessary as orientation programme for fresh students is holding today,” he said.

The dean also disclosed that the expelled students were from various faculties while their offences are:
1. Forgery of certificates,
2. Examination malpractice.

Mr. Omotesho also said that the academic institution had its rules and regulations which must be followed strictly by students, adding that failure to abide by them would result in dismissal.

Also speaking on the school Management, he added, had directed the students to keep away from the campus and submit all the university’s property in their possessions. (NAN)

What’s Your thought on this? is the school wrong or right in publishing the names of the expelled candidates?
