Because in the school’s pursue to sustained drive for excellence, the University of Ilorin management board has scored another first with the introduction of a multi-functional staff and student identification card, which students and staff members can own and carry round.

According to information sent to us, the new Unilorin multi-functionla ID card, is a one-stop smart card which is well designed and surely do have sophisticated features, and what’s more interesting here?
This particular card can be used for financial transactions and for gaining access to key facilities on campus, in addition to serving the traditional function of identification of its holders.

The “Combo Card” project, which is in furtherance of the “Cashless Policy” which was introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was coordinated by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
The cards were produced for the University by Interswitch and it is the first of its kind by any university in the country.

When rpesenting the new “combo card” to the Vice-Chancellor of Unilorin, Professor. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, last Monday (September 9, 2013), the Project Manager, Mr. Monsur Raji, said something sweet and really wonderful about the Unilorin multi-functional card.

“Unlike the old ID card that just serves as a means of staff and students’ identification, the new card has three distinct functions as mentioned and outlined below.
1. This card could be used as payment card,
2. This card could be used to gain access to control and identification.
3. This card also contains the holder’s blood group specification.”

Kudos to UNILORIN Vice chancellor for this, and we here in Dailyschoolnews pray and wish for better things like this to happen in Unilorin.
