Good news, did I hear you shout “cheers”? Well, according to information on our educational news broadcasting desk, regular academic activities have recommenced at the University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) after a three-day strike by lecturers of the academic institution.
Just in case you are not aware, the ASUU chapter of the University of Port Harcourt, which is under the Chairmanship of Prof. Anthonia Okerengwo commenced a warning strike last week over the delay in the payment of their February salaries and allowances.
However, when asked why they decided to call off the strike, the Chairman did confirm that the senate of the academic institution has reconciled all outstanding allowances and they have absolutely no reason to go on striking.
Students of the institution who spoke with our correspondent, Glory, did not fail to express delight and happiness at the resumption of lectures.
We also thought that you should also note, that the Matriculation ceremony for all newly admitted students of the University of Port Harcourt has been plan to hold on Friday, the 28th of March, 2014.
Best wishes to all students of Uniport and all newly admitted students of the academic institution.
