News reaching our desk at this time has to do with the University of Port Harcourt, popularly known as UNIPORT, that the aforementioned school’s Admission Form for MSc in ICT Engineering for the 2014/2015 academic session has been released.
The current M.Sc. in Information and Telecommunication Engineering is a university-industry based collaborative Graduate professional programme between AlcatelLucent and University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Introduction to Admission Form for MSc in ICT Engineering:
The Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering (CITE) is aimed to be a specialized ICT centre poised to bridging the University –Industry Gap through result-oriented teaching, practical hands-on based training and problem-solving innovative Research.
The CITE offers a conducive learning environment with ICT facilities. Students use industry software, case studies and undertake numerous industrial field visits to live telephone networks.
The objectives of this professional Master’s Degree programme is to provide graduates in engineering and physical sciences with broad based training required by ICT and Telecommunications companies.
Exceptionality of this Masters’ Programme:
a) Its Award of M.Sc. degree; and provision of opportunities for obtaining two-ICT professional Certifications
b) The exiting partnership between University of Port Harcourt (Nigeria) and Alcatel-Lucent. This Alcatel-Lucent is a leading Telecommunications equipment Vendor and Technologies implementer. It is the major equipment Supplier to most of the Nigerian Telecom Service Operators.

UNIPORT MSc In ICT Eng. Academic Programmes:
I. A Full-Time Programme: It is aimed to run for 12 calendar months with serious training and
II. Weekend- Programme: It is aimed to run for 100 weekends meaning for Friday Afternoon; and Saturday, all day.

Award of Degree: Any Successful students at the end of the programme shall receive a Masters’ Degree awarded by the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
Professional Certification: The applying students will be presented with the opportunity to sit for two professional ICT certifications: Alcatel-Lucent NRS1 Certification & CCNA.
Admission Requirements: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50 on a scale of 5.00 in any of the Engineering Fields, Computer Science, Mathematics/ Statistics, Physics, Physics- Electronic or any other related field.
Please note that: Candidates with a CGPA of at least 3.00 on a scale of 5.00 with at least two years of relevant experience would also be considered.

The Application Fee: All the interested candidate for this programme are required to pay the total sum of fifteen thousand naira (N15,000) in certified bank draft made payable to the Centre for Information & Telecommunication Engineering [CITE].

And after the completing the payment, the application forms must be returned to The Director, CITE on or before Friday, May 16, 2014. Aptitude Test and Oral Interview to be held by 10 am, June 11, 2014.
The 2014/2015 session begins on August 11, 2014.
