Latest information reaching our news desk this morning, is that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released another statement, which disclosed that out of the over 1.6 million candidates who sat for the 2014 UTME examination, only 18,667 representing just 2% are seeking admission in private Universities as at the time of compiling this article.
Breaking this down, out of this, the Covenant University Otta has the highest number of applicants with 3,315 while the Obong University, Obong, Ntak, Akwa Ibom State and the Southern University, Okun-Owa, Ogun State, have the least in the number of applicants from the JAMB UTME 2014 examination.
However, still ranking among chosen universities is the Bells University, Ota, Ogun State, which has 232 applicants, the American University, Yola has 280 applicants.

has 1588, 349, 31, 22, 25, 62, 2,139, 1021 and 658 applicants respectively.
When asked why the low number of students who applied for admission in private Universities, a DSN staff disclosed that the low patronage to high cost of schooling in private universities.
