Well, things are not going as well as students of Okopoly are praying, as the Union has just disclosed that they will shut down the school if Onu remains rector. This is something that all prospective students of the federal polytechnic, Oko are dreading to hear, because it means that they will sit down at home again till the problem gets resolved, the Joint Action Committee on Trade Unions (JACTU) of the academic institution had yesterday, disclosed that the tertiary institution would remain shut, even after the ongoing nationwide strike by Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP of 2014 gets called off, unless a new rector was appointed from within the school, and according to them, Onu MUST go.
Well, in case you’re wondering why they remain adamant that Onu must go, the tenure of the incumbent, Professor Godwin Onu, expired on the 10th of March, 2014.
This news came as the governing Council of the polytechnic denied sacking about 400 staff of the academic institution as alleged, saying this “Council desires to mention further that the unfounded rumour about the laying off of 400 staff is false.”
We’ll wait and watch as events unfold in our eyes. Do share this information with your friends on facebook, google+ and twitter.
