Nigeria Universities – Polytechnics and College of Education news Nigerian Educational News | Zenith Of Educational NewsLatest information reaching our news desk today, is that the Academic Board of Federal Polytechnic Oko, had on the 2nd of July withdrew from the currently ongoing national Strike of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics(ASUP).
This decision was made by members of the school management board, when the leadership board, held it’s emergency meeting, the Academic Board said that they are still in full support of the strike, but that the school has put the fate of students into consideration, adding that the Withdrawal from the strike was to enable students write the second semester examinations and be at par with other students of other institutions in Nigeria.
Doctor Nsionu Ifeanyi who addressed reporters immediately after the meeting praised the efforts of ASUP in putting up a good fight noting that their withdrawal was not to disuade the union from the struggle to better academics for polytechnics in Nigeria, but was in consideration of the students who have wasted a lot of time at home, which is almost getting to a year now.
DR. Nsionu also went on to say that the Okopoly management will announce the modalities for the examination which will commence immediately the school resumes.
Please note that this information is not yet concrete, until the board come to a final conclusion.
However, this information has not yet been confirmed on the school official portal. That is the very reason why there was no date for resumption.
