JAMB 2014 UTME: JAMB Tutor School Teachers, Students on CBT

Since the world is taking advantage of technology, and mostly the educational sectors, Nigeria educational sector does not want to be left out.
So in a bid to familiarized students with the Computer Base Test (CBT).

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), has organised a sensitisation programme which teaches both students and teachers on how to make use of Computer Based Test (CBT) with the final year students in senior secondary schools in the country in preparation for the 2014/2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Not left out, Most teachers were also taught the effective use of Biometrics Verified Machine (BVM) that would be used during the examination period to help stop malpractice.

The www.Dailyschoolnews.com.ng correspondent was able to gathered that the exercise was held throughout the country.

On Thursday, some important delegates from JAMB headquarters in Abuja, joined staff in Ibadan to intimate Oyo State senior secondary school (SS3) students on the use of CBT system in the forthcoming JAMB UTME.

Also while addressing the students on the occasion, the Oyo State Zonal Coordinator of the Board, Mrs Bola Elushade reiterated the decision of the Board to phase out the Pencil Paper Test (PPT) method and substitute it with e-testing, the latest global acceptable test method, in Nigeria.

According to the zonal coordinator, who disclosed to NANS and we quote her:

“This is to informed the board, under the leadership of Professor Dibu Ojerinde, to organise an advocacy programme for students and teachers in Nigeria on the Computer Based Test (CBT) and the effective use of BVMs in the centres.

The zonal coordinator also went further to stat this: “Saying that there is need for the JAMB UTME board to invite the students for a trial test on CBT to correct their wrong impression about the CBT. The world is advancing in technology, and we need to advance with it, or be left behind. So the introduction of CBT will go a long way to meet the demand of candidates and their parents as regard the prompt release of their children results. CBT will correct all forms of unwanted examination malpractices.

The CBT will help to stop examination malpractice and results will be release within a short period of time.

While in Oyo State, about two hundred (200) students were invited from different public and private schools in the state for the trial test.

We expect all the students who came for the CBT sensitisation to tell their colleagues about the advantages of CBT,” she said.
