ASUP Strike Update: There Is No Plans Yet to Call off ASUP Strike

Just some few hours later after the ASUU STRIKE which has last over 6 months was called off, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) has just released some statement about current updates, and the Union disclosed to Dailyschoolnew that it has no plan yet to call off its over two months old strike which it embarked upon on the 4th of October, 2013.

While expressing disappointment at the federal government’s cold attitude towards polytechnic education in Nigeria.
National Publicity Secretary, Mr Clement Chairman, who disclosed this in Jos on Monday, the 6th of December, said that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union met at the Labour House in Abuja on the 12th of December, 2013 to review the progress made so far on the negotiation with government, and concluded that government has no iota of seriousness towards resolving issues with the union.

The National Publicity Secretary, Mr Clement Chairman also observed that “the seeming preference for university education over polytechnic education in Nigeria by the federal government is disappointing considering the fact that polytechnic graduates have competed favourably well with their university counterparts at workplaces.
