FG Approves More Eight (8) New Universities

Latest educational news reaching our news desk today, is that the Federal government has finally approved the establishment of eight new universities in the country. President Muhammadu Buhari seems to follow the steps of ex president Jonathan, in creating new varsities. (Read full details here).

According to information shared by the Minister of State for Education, Anthony Onwuka, who disclosed this information today to state house corespondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting.

According to the Minister of State for Education, Onwuka, the newly approved universities are as follows:
Anchor University Ayobo, Lagos;
Arthur Jarvis Akpabuyo University Calabar, Cross River;
Clifford University Owerinta, Abia;
Coal City University, Enugu;
Crown Hill University Kwara;
Dominican University Ibadan, Oyo;
Kola Daisy University, Ibadan;
Legacy University, Okija, Anambra State.

Mr. Anthony Onwuka further disclosed that all the new universities were given three years provisional license and they are to be mentored by older universities.

Here is how the federal government shared the task of monitoring these new Universities to the older Universities.

Anchor University will be mentored by the University of Lagos,
Jarvis University by the University of Calabar,
Clifford University by the University of Agriculture, Umudike,
Coal city University by the University of Nigeria Nsukka;
Legacy University by Nnamdi Azikiwe University,
Crown Hill University by the University of Ilorin;

While the two new universities in Oyo State, Kola Daisy and Dominican universities, will be mentored by the University of Ibadan (ui)
