Latest information reaching our news desk today, is that the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) strike has been called off, and we would love you to note that the strike commenced since October last year.
According to the information on our news desk, the Academic Staff union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has just suspended her ten month old strike. The strike, which the union started in October, was suspended today, Saturday, the 12th of July 2014, after the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the union held in FCT Abuja.
The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Chirman confirmed this while briefing the newsmen today, including our correspondent.
All striking lecturers have been directed to resume work on Tuesday, the 15th of July.
It is also important that you note, that the ASUP/NEC meeting was held two days after the meeting with the new minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, who was recently sworn in (on Wednesday) by the president.
