How to Prepare and What To Read For JAMB/UTME

I know that as the JAMB-UMTE examination is forthcoming, candidates are seriously studying, but the question is this “What do we study?
Which subject should i focus on”, among others.

Just like i said above, the yearly UTME examination is here again, and In just a few days time , the academic future of over a million Nigerians will be decided by the Joint admission and matriculation board, (JAMB).

One thing which we have always witness in JAMB every year is that there’s always Mass failure, and these was recorded in Last year’s Examination and this has lead to an increase in the number of applicants this year.

As the ”D-Day” draws closer, the Dailyschoolnews Nigeria has decided to share some tips On how to Successfully Prepare For the forthcoming JAMB – UTME Examination.

One thing you should note is that scoring a high mark in the UTME exam is not as difficult as most people have paint the picture to be. It all depends on your ability to prepare well and heed to simple instructions. This tips will guide you on how to prepare well and achieve success in your UTME examination.

• Overcome Your Fear: One of the main reasons why most students failed their UTME examination is because of FEAR!, don’t let the spirit of fear overtake you, make sure that you beat the spirit of fear before you ever ventured into any examination hall.

They’re not really afraid of the examination itself, but they are afraid of is FAILURE!. What makes people afraid of examinations, is the fear of the consequences that awaits them if they fail the exam.

One thing you need to know, is that you should always defeat the spirit of fear, when it comes, smile and say to yourself that you know what you’re doing.

One thing i have learn throughout my years in School as a student, is that if you really want to pass the UTME exam, then you must overcome the fear of failure!!.
Look at the UTME exam as a roadblock between you and five million Naira, remove that entity of fear in you and push that roadblock out of your way to reach up and take your glory.

• Study Everyday: Show me a man diligent in his word, and he shall stand before kings and not mere men. According to recent research, which has shown that 60% of Nigerian students don’t read, which has been one of the major reasons why the Nigerian education sector has continued to dwindle.

We are students should endeavour to read our book on a daily basis, the secret to passing an exam is loading your brain with effort data, only then, can it give you answers. Researchers said that the very first computer is our brain, and according to the definition of computer, it accepts the data you input, process – store it, and export it! What else do you want?

If you don’t input any thing in your brain, it won’t give you anything, don’t wait till the night to the exam before you start reading, it’ll simply not work, except you have a super fast brain.

Spend at least 3 hours daily reading, read according to JAMB’s syllabus and focus more on areas where questions are most likely to come from.

• Get Past Questions and Answer Them: Get past questions of the previous years and try to answer them. Get familiar with their question asking pattern. Every past question has a 3/5 chance of been repeated. Doing this will help you a lot.

• Work More On Your Question Answering Speed:Are you aware that for you to answer the JAMB questions, you need to be super fast? In case this is your first time, Jamb gives you limited time to answer a question, so therefore , you should note that you have to work on your answering speed before venturing into the examination hall, and make sure you think fast, but think correctly. On average you have about 60seconds to spend on a question. So ensure that you spend not less than sixty (60) seconds per questions. Make sure that you don’t waste your precious time on a question, if you don’t know the answer, JUMP to the next, but only after answering all the questions should you go back to answer the ones you left behind.

Picking The Right Answer: One thing i have noticed over the years is that most students get confused on choosing the right answer. Before entering the JAMB UTME examination center, please be very much aware that the UTME exam is one of the most Tactical exams in Nigeria. Its is very tactical but yet extra easy.

The answers are somehow look the same, and might get you extra confused. Like most JAMB examination, you have four options A B C D , and out of those 4, most times, the A And B looks Correct. The real answer is staring at you but you’re too blind by confusion to see it!.

Just cool your mind and answer the question, just trust Jesus Christ and yourself, only then can you know the answer, if you don’t believe you can make it, your mind will refuse to work.

Eliminate all spirit of doubts that is clouding your mind and choose the right answers.
