Admission Forms into 2014/2015 Covenant University Full Time Pre-degree Programmes Out

Information reaching us today, is that the Covenant University (CU) has opened the registration form and is inviting all qualified candidates for admission into the academic institution full time pre-degree programmes for the 2014/2015 academic session.

Just in case you were not aware, the Covenant University is a private, Christian Mission University committed to raising a new generation of leaders. The main aim and mission of this institution is to train graduates who will be mentally resourceful, intellectually equipped, entrepreneurially self-dependent, futuristically visionary and responsibility sensitive.

So using this platform, we wish to inform and notify the general public, that applications are currently been invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission to degree programmes on a full time basis in the following Colleges and Departments of the University.

Entry Requirements
All aspirants should note that the minimum entry requirements for admission into Covenant University are the following:

  1. credit level passes in 5 subjects at the SSCE/GCE O ‘Level /NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings.

Please note that the required subjects passed must include the following:
English Language,
Mathematics.

All candidates are also required to note that there are other requirements that may be specific to a College and/or a Programme.

Jamb qualification
Candidates who are applying for admission into the Covenant University are required to sit for the 2014/2015 UTME examination of the Joint Admissions & Matriculation Board (JAMB) and attain the prescribed cut-off mark.
Please be informed that this is a statutory requirement for entry into Nigerian Universities, and not just ONLY for Covenant University.

All aspirants and candidates should note that they are required to apply for programmes of their choice by filling the 2014/2015 JAMB registration forms.

Applicants are strongly advised to ensure that their UTME subject combination qualifies them for their chosen programme.

Any candidate desiring to apply for a change of course after filling the forms must make their application to JAMB before the release of the 2014 UTME results. In addition to the above, Covenant University conducts a Post-UTME screening exercise for all candidates seeking admission to the University and applicants may not be admitted without fulfilling the demands of the screening exercise.

COLLEGE OF DEVELOPMENT STUDIES (CDS)

College Requirements:
All aspirants/candidates who are seeking admission to any of the college’s programmes must have obtained at least five (5) credit level passes in the SSCE/GCE O ‘Level//NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent, obtained in not more than two sittings prior to September, 2014.

Do note that the five (5) credit passes must include the following subjects:
1. Mathematics,
2. English Language.

I hope you are aware that the Degree Programmes available in the College and their respective additional entry requirements are as follows:

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS A Department of Accounting B.Sc Accounting (4yrs)

Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in Economics and any one other Social Science or Arts Subjects.

Department of Banking & Finance B.Sc Banking & Finance (4yrs) The entry requirement is the same as in the Department of Accounting. Students in Banking & Finance have internship opportunities in the Banks located on Campus.

Department of Business Management B.Sc Business Administration (4yrs B.Sc Industrial Relations & Human Resource Management (4yrs)

iii. B.Sc Marketing (4yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in Economics and one of Accounting/ Commerce/ Geography/ Government /Business Methods.

SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES A. Department of Economics and Development Studies

i. B.Sc Economics (4yrs)

ii. B.Sc Demography and Social Statistics (4yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level pass in Economics.

Department of Political Science and International Relations

i. B.Sc International Relations (4yrs)

ii. B.Sc Policy & Strategic Studies (4yrs)

iii. B.Sc Political Science (4yrs)

Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in two of the following:

Economics, Government/History and any other subject

School of human resource development
A. Department of Languages: B.A English (4yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level pass in Literature in English.

Department of Mass Communication B.Sc Mass Communication, with options in Journalism and Online Mass Communication and Broadcast (4yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in Literature in English and any other subject in the Social Sciences or Arts.

Department of Psychology B.Sc Psychology (4yrs)
Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in Biology and any two social science subjects. Students may specialise in Psychology or Counselling before their year of graduation.

Department of Sociology B.Sc Sociology (4yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in two of the following subjects:

Government,
History,
Economics,
Christian Religious Knowledge,
Geography,
Literature in English.

College of science & technology (cst)
College Requirements: Candidates seeking admission to any of the College’s programmes must have at least five (5) credit level passes in the SSCE/GCE O ‘Level /NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent, obtained at not more than two sittings prior to September 2014.

The five (5) credit level passes must include Mathematics, English Language and Physics.

However, for candidates seeking admission to Estate Management Degree Programme, a credit level pass in Physics is not compulsory just as a credit level pass in Chemistry is not compulsory for Architecture.

Department of Building Technology B.Sc Building Technology (5yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in any one of the following subjects: B. D. C. B. B.
Chemistry/Economics and any one of Technical Drawing/Fine Arts, Building Construction/Geography/ Land Surveying.

Department of Estate Management B.Sc Estate Management (5yrs) Candidates must have credit level passes in Economics, Technical Drawing/Geography and any one of Physics/ Biology/ Chemistry.

SCHOOL OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES A.

Department of Biological Sciences (4yrs)

i. B.Sc Biochemistry (4yrs)

Candidates must have credit level passes in Chemistry and Biology.

Department of Chemistry B.Sc Industrial Chemistry (4yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in Chemistry and Biology.

Department of Computer and Information Sciences

i. B.Sc Computer Science (4yrs) Candidates must in addition to the general admission criteria, possess credit level passes in Chemistry and any one of Biology/ Agricultural Science /Economics / Government/Accounting/Commerce.

ii. B.Sc Management Information Systems (4yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in Economics and one of Biology /Agricultural Science.

iii. B.Sc Industrial Mathematics (4yrs) Candidates must in addition possess credit level passes in any two of the following: Chemistry / B i o l o g y / A g r i c u l t u r a l Science/Economics/gover nment/Business Studies/Accounting/Commerce.

Department of Physics B.Sc Industrial Physics- A pplied Geophysics (4yrs)

Method Of Application
Intending students of Covenant University are to obtain the JAMB forms, choose Covenant University and sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) of the Board as prescribed in the relevant advertisement for the 2014/2015 admission exercise. In addition, applicants must complete the Covenant University Application Forms, available online at www.admission.covenantuniversity.edu.ng

Applicants are to note that the closing date for completion and submission of Application form would be one week after the release of 2014 UTME results.

IMPORTANT ADMISSION INFORMATION
All qualifications claimed by applicants in order to fulfill the prescribed entry requirements must have been obtained on or before students matriculation.

All Applicants to Covenant University should note that preference shall be given to candidates with outstanding performance in the 2014/2015 UTME.

There will be a Computer based Post-UTME screening which will take place at Covenant University, Canaan Land, Km. 10 Idiroko Road, Ota.

The screening schedule would be accessible on the Univer sity website (admission.covenantuniversity.edu.ng), immediately after the release of the 2014 UTME results by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
