Latest educational news reaching us today, is that the authorities of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have said they will not redeploy any corps members serving in the troubled parts of Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
Of course, we know that you are aware that no fewer than 30 persons reportedly died and many buildings torched in renewed fighting between Eggon and Alago ethnic groups, in Obi Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, which left many corps member dead and deathly wounded.
The NYSC State Director, Mrs. Bolanle Olabanji, who spoke to our correspondent, said there was no plan to post them out of the state.
Mrs. Bolanle Olabanji also said this;
“We won’t redeploy them. We will only repost them within Nasarawa State. We have moved the affected corps members out to Lafia. We started moving them on Saturday when the crisis broke out. There is no problem; they are okay.”
However, the NYSC state director added that the organization would only consider reposting them if the crisis continued.
She said, “We cannot redeploy them because that will mean posting them out of the state. The only thing is that we can repost them within the state if the crisis continues.
The Board just have to moved them out of the crisis areas.
We were also informed that the ugly crisis, which hit the following Local Government Areas, like; Obi, Dedere, Tudun-Adabu, Barkin-Kogi, Asakio and neighbouring communities, Olabanji said, affected 121 of the 6, 335 corps members in the state.
We pray for the safety of the corps over there, and i certainly wouldn’t advice anyone to go to affected LGA, too risky for Humans.
