Nigeria Universities – Polytechnics and College of Education news Nigerian Educational News | Zenith Of Educational NewsLATEST information reaching the www.Dailyschoolnews.com.ng team today, is that the Nigeria Educational Sector, may be, in the next few months to come, review the policy in which the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is using to admit candidates.
This issue was raised after candidates/several other educational bodies have complained to the Education Minister about the low rate of admission from the JAMB board.
According to the Nigeria Education Minister, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, who recently reveal to the federal Government, that they are about to review the JAMB policy.
According to Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, this is to ensure that more number of candidates are admitted into Colleges of Education as the nation needs more teachers, not just some SSCE certificate holders, but teachers who are qualified to help transform the Nigeria educational sector.
According to Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, who said and we quote:
“Only the dregs of candidates who sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) annually and fail to gain admission into universities are left for the Colleges.”
He also continued and said that from this policy review, they hoped that a policy will be developed to guarantee that the Colleges will have enough students admitted in the up coming admission examination.
