LASU 2013/2014 Academic Calendar For Newly Admitted And Returning Students is Out

Using this platform, the Dailyschoolnews Nigeria team, wishes to inform the general public and most especially, students of The Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo that the educational institution has on Friday released a newly approved academic calendar for the 2013/2014 academic session in spite of the ongoing strike by the institution’s lecturers.

According to a statement, which was signed by the academic institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Kayode Sutton, which shows that the new academic calendar is applicable to both the newly admitted and returning students.

The School PRO disclosed that the 1st (first) semester of the session would run for 14 weeks, starting from the 23rd of June and will last till the 22nd of September.

According to his statement, which is quoted below:

“Students are expected to resume from recess and commence online registration, and lectures, on the 23rd of June 2014.

He also went on to say that the grading, uploading of results and department/faculty board consideration of results, and the uploading of corrections are expected to have been concluded by the 13th week, which is by Sept.19.

“By Sept. 22, results will be presented for senate approval, and the semester winds up on the same day,” the statement said.

It also indicated that the second semester will commence immediately the first semester ends on the 23rd of September 2014, and will last till the 12th of January 2015.

According to the statement, students have started returning to campus for lectures in their various faculties, as directed by the school management board.

It said that a minimum of 70% attendance for lectures would be required before a student would be eligible to sit for examinations.

The statement noted that the academic institution’s senate had directed all departments/ faculties to resume normal academic activities and report to the vice- chancellor for documentation.

It said that the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Oladapo Obafunwa, who is accompanied by some principal officers, had on the 26th of June, embarked on a tour of the faculties to monitor compliance with the resumption directive.
