Bowen University Riot Details: Over 30 Million Naira Property Destroyed – Vice Chancellor

Here’s the latest update on the Bowen University Riot, where the school management board and the authorities of Bowen University, Iwo in Osun State, have assessed property which were destroyed by the academic institution protesting students at over N30 million Naira, the school authorities also said that all persons who were involved in this riot will be caught and brought to Justice.

According to the Bowen University Vice chancellor, Professor Mathews Ojo, who in an interview with one Nigeria top most newspaper, disclosed that on Friday, a comprehensive review of the disturbances and their circumstances had been directed with the institution’s disciplinary committee already working on the situation.

The Vice chancellor also gave the general public and most especially, all concerned persons promise, that innocent students would not suffer any injustice, just as he assured parents that the university was committed to the welfare of their children.

The vice chancellor also went further to say that the Academic institution would re-open on the 1st of April. He however denied reports that the authorities were closing the halls of residence against students during daytime.

He however, disclosed to the general public, that all identified culprits would be given the opportunity to defend themselves, assuring parents that the bad eggs behind the crisis would be weeded out and dealt with.

Also speaking on electricity problem the school is currently facing, Professor Ojo said and we quote him “Iwo township has been without electricity for the past 11 days. We have since then been running the institution on generator.”
