Lectures Commence at AAUA Even as ASUU Vows to Continues Strike

Information reaching us today, is that the Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) has just commenced lectures even as ASUU leadership vows to continues strike.

According to our correspondent, the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, had yesterday partially commenced lectures as majority of the students have resumed for their second semester.

Our correspondent said she was surprised that even some departments have start lectures.

We were also able to learn that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Femi Mimiko who had personally monitored the classes to ensure that the lecturers comply with the federal government order..

However, since some of the lecturers might have pulled out of the strike following a threat by the management that failure to resume may lead to termination of appointment, and we’re pretty sure that they don’t want to loss their job security, i can’t say they’re foolish or not, it’s a choice.

The departments where lectures was held is at the following departments:
History, Department.
Education Department.
Mass Communication Department.

The school registrar, R.O Olotu had already sent out a reminder to the students that, it was committed to reopening the institution for lectures.

When our correspondent did interview a 400 Level student of History, named Oladimeji Ogunwale who spoke to her, siad this and we quote him: “we have resumed and I received a lecture this morning. I think other Departments are also going on with their lectures.”

Also, a 200 level student of Mass Communication Department, Omoyemi Akinmolayan, said, “I think our Vice-Chancellor has compassion on us and that was why he asked us to resume; we have stayed too long at home. It is a very good development. I know that lectures will continue without interruption”

When asked if the lecturers who taught them were newly employed he said, said “there are no new lecturers in my department for now. We still have the old ones, who were in the class this morning. It is good that we have resumed. As a final year student, I am very happy despite that ASUU has really wasted our time”

We was also inform that the AAUA ASUU Chairman, Dr. Busuyi Mekusi could not be reached as his mobile phone was switched off as at press time.
