Asuu Strike Update 2013: FG Summons all VCs To FCT Abuja For Serious Meeting

It’s really getting ht, as the very ultimatum which was given by the federal government to ASUU Leadership to resume on or before the 9th of December 2013 was disobeyed by the ASUU union.

Because of the striking universities disobedient to follow the directives given by the federal government, and the lecturers refusal to call off the lingering strike and resume classes, the Federal Government has summoned all Vice Chancellors of federal and state universities to a crucial meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, the 11th of December.

All members of the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) who are On Needs Assessment Report for inauguration were also invited to the crucial meeting, that would see an end to the strike or that would spike the strike towards a longer journey.

This information was contained in a statement which was signed by the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC) Professor Julius Okojie, on behalf of the Supervising Minister of Education, Barrister Nyeson Wike and published in a national daily today.

Reading the statement, Dailyschoolnews also discovered that all the Vice Chancellors are requested to come to the meeting with a list of their prioritised projects based on Needs Assessment Report for funding and Vice Chancellors of state universities must come along with with their account details.

However, the information is not still clear as to whether the meeting was called to disburse the N200b the federal government said it had deposited in an account with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, which ASUU is insisting must be communicated to it formally.
