ASUU Members Needs Money as ASUU Leadership Distributes Food and Money

According to information on our news desk, some ASUU members are considering if they should sign the register or not, since most of the striking lecturers friends and families are advising them to go back to the classroom or they might loss their job, and apart from that, ASUU members are also facing some money shortage + food stuffs, so the union leaders, sensing this, decided to help out or the lecturers might go back to the classroom to get paid.

Information we received also revealed that the striking lecturers at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria on Wednesday received relief materials, including food and money to enable them to cushion the effect of the ongoing industrial action.

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities of the institution, Dr. Mohammed Kabir-Aliyu, also confirmed this.

According to the chairman, the lecturers in the University have not earned their salaries in the last four months.

Also, among items which were distributed to the lecturers were:
Rice,
Semovita,
Vegetable oil,
Cash ranging from N20, 000 to N50, 000.

The chairman also revealed that the union is ready for the Federal Government’s bluff concerning the sack threat.
