Dailyschoolnews; Student Makes Money with ASUU Through “Rag Day”

Latest information reaching us here today in Dailschoolnews, is that more and more students are using their vacation period (thanks to asuu strike) to make money.

According to information on our news desks, some students have ave devised “ingenious” means of making money, they declared Wednesday their “rag-day”.

Currently, this week will be the six week of the asuu strike, most students are reportedly joyful about this new development.

Just as around 8:45am, we noticed that in major inter-city roads and streets, which were literally overtaken by the students, who, according to them, have been on “forced vacation” which was made possible by ASUU, and since the university lecturers have declared themselve unavailable, the students are using this means to send home their grievence.

The students decided to go on shorts, with tops and trousers turned, the young Nigerians approached motorists stocked in traffic as well as passers-by, politely and will ask them for money.

Although the “rag-day” was said to be by students of College of Education, and this action is been done inside the FCT Abuja, we were informed that most of the students who are “ragging” are undergraduates, who have been out of school, since the ongoing strike commence.

When we approach one student and ask why they are doing this, the university students replied almost in Unison that they want to take advantage of the development, to help themselves.

it was kind of crowdy and noisy, so we approach one student, who simply say her name is Sindy said:

“Seriously, I’m an undergraduate and you know our universities have been on strike for over one month now, and we’ve got needs to meet, and this seems to be one of the best method so far.

Sindy went on to say that they (the students) have to rag at least to make some cool money to keep eating till asuu strike is over.

When we approach a student, male, who gave his name as Moses Abahing, said they had to do this, since “some parents and guardians hardly give them pocket money, during strike or holiday periods.

So what do you think about this?
is this the best way to tell ASUU to resume school? or is it a means of begging?
