Federal University Of Technology Owerri Futo Celebrates One Year Of Vice Chancellor Asiabaka

This is truly wonderful, this is a year that has largely been described as one of great successes and landmark achievements in the university history, as the Federal University Of Science And Technology, Owerri, otherwise known as Futo community, has gathered together in July to celebrate the first year anniversary of C.C. Asiabaka as the Vice Chancellor.
This are words from the VC:
It has been an exciting year for us, we have made remarkable and huge progress when it comes to information technology, education and charting a new course for Futo’s future.

We are truly feeling very very proud right now to celebrate this quintessential gentleman, administrator and optimist who is set on the path of epoch-making history in the annals of our great educational institution.
The activities included the Vice Chancellor’s address to the 18th General assembly of the University, where the Vice Chancellor gave a full account of his stewardship, accomplishments in the last one year and a took them down a peep into his future plans for the educational University as well.

Here Are Certain Remarkable achievements Of The Vice Chancellor in the last Year:
1.. Automation of academic activities.
2. Deployment of infrastructure for a green environment in the University using renewable energy resource.
3. Establishment of a Center for Research and International Development.
4. The Creation of a Research and Technology Park in the University.
5. An Increased collaboration with the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA)
6. Increased research funding through the Nigerian Government’s STEP-B Program.
7. Research collaborations with international Universities across the world, while the prominent one among the lists are,
Dillard University, New Orleans, USA, Univesity of Salford, UK,
Tuskegee University, USA,
Egerton University, Njoro, Kenya to mention just a few.
Other notable activities were, the award of excellence to a deserving student, Mr. Okechukwu Jonnwakaloof in the department of Chemical Engineering, who has contributed immensely to the advancement of information technology in the University.
A town hall meeting between the Vice Chancellor and students.
A public lecture, which was delivered by a distinguished academic and administrator, Dr. Willie Siyanbola, who is the Director General of the National Center for Technology Management.

The Vice Chancellor also used the platform to addressed the 363rd meeting of the Educational Institution Senate Body.
