ESUT Vice Chancellor Kidnappers Demand The Sum Of 200 Million Naira For Ransom

Of recent, Cult related killings has resumed in Enugu state, on Thursday with the shooting to death of four persons including a councilor of the state.

The latest information reaching our educational news desk is coming on the heels of unconfirmed reports that the abductors of the Vice Chancellor of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Professor Cyprian Onyeji, have demanded a ransom of about Two Hundred million Naira as a condition for his release.

The four victims, who were killed in the renewed cult war, were killed at a different points within the Enugu capital city on Thursday.
Two victims were killed in the morning at the Adelabu and Peter Okoye streets, Uwani area of Enugu.
While one of the victim was killed at Onuasata in the afternoon of thursday.
Then the fourth victim, who is a councilor in one of the local councils of the state, was shot dead Thursday evening at the One Day Road, Awkunanaw.

The assailants and kidnappers used cars for the adoption operation, an eye witness noted sacrily that these assailants were heavily armed.
The cultists resorted to using cars for their notorious activities following the ban on motorcycles being placed by the government, motorcycles which they normally use to escape after launching an attack on innocent people.

The killings came on the heels of the police hunt for the kidnappers of ESUT VC, whose official vehicle, a Hunda Accord in which he was taken away on Wednesdday was reportedly found Thursday on an undisclosed location.
Although the police did not confirm the ransom being demand by the assailants, they however, confirmed that the vehicle was recovered intact without any problem.
Sources said that the kidnappers made telephone contacts with the Vice Chancellor family and made the ransom demand Thursday.
But the person who received the call could not be ascertained.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)Enugu State Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu said the police were on top of the situation, further disclosing that the police have spread their dragnets for a crackdown on the abductors.

The police spokesman confirmed the killings in cult related violence, disclosing that the police is investigating the killings and further information will be shared with our readers.
