The University was envisaged to be ICT-driven and entrepreneurial in orientation.

The Academic Brief provided that the proposed University should commence admissions in the 2013/2014 academic session and run through a four-phased five-year development, of which during the time, it would have the following;

NUC Accredited All SLU Programmes.

In March 2018, the National Universities Commission (NUC) committee decided to granted accreditation to all the Fifteen (15) Programmes which are offered in Sule Lamido University (SLU), Kafin Hausa.

The approval was contained in a letter which NUC Executive-Secretary, NUC Professor Abubakar A. Rasheed addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu. This followed a visitation by different accreditation panels which are usually sent by the NUC to ensure and ascertain if the programmes run by SLU conform with Commission’s standards or not. Had it been the Panel came back with a negative reply, SLU programmes won’t have been accredited.

Due to the visitation by the accreditation panels, Thirteen (13) out of the fifteen (15) programmes run in the Sule Lamid University were granted Full Accreditation, while two (2) programmes were given Interim Accreditation (awaiting further accreditation).

The Sule Lamido University (SLU) now has clearance to continue admitting undergraduate students in all of its fifteen (15) programmes and graduates from this institution are qualified for the one-year mandatory national service under National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Important Note: Parents/guardians/Applicants should know that programmes with Full Accreditation will be revisited by the NUC for another accreditation five (5) years after the first accreditation, while those programmes with Interim Accreditation will be revisited after two (2) years.
