ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike for 2017! See Memo

asuu strike update

It all starts again, as the Academic Staff of Union of Universities, ASUU declares Indefinite strike for 2017. If you recalled, the ASUU declares indefinite strike, starting from July in 2013, and later called off in December 2013. The previous strike was a six month strike by the academic staff union of Universities, and was called off, when the then Federal government signed a MoU with the Union, which was after a long 13 hours meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan.

You should understand that of all the items listed and contained in the MoU, only the Two hundred Billion out of a Total of one Trillion, three hundred billion Naira of the Public Universities Revitalization (Needs Assesment) funds was released.

What is MoU?

MoU means a Memorandum of Understanding.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) is an agreement which is nonbinding, signed between two or more parties, where they see an outline of the terms and details of an understanding, including each parties’ requirements and responsibilities. Please take note that an MOU is often the first stage in the formation of a formal contract.

It seems like it’s now another charade that will create a wonderful opportunity for the Nigeria federal government to start putting blame on the previous government, and this may be the blissful way to end 2017.
