USING this platform, we wish to inform and notify the general public, especially, all concern students, that the Nigeria Maritime University, NMU, Okerenkoko, Delta State, management board, has agreed to commence full academic activities in September, 2015.
This information was made public, by the Vice Chancellor of the academic institution, Professor Ongoebi Otebu.
While addressing the News men at Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area, at a reception which was organized by the Gbaramatu people for the Governing Council of the university, the school’s VC disclosed, and we quote:
“I know that it is your prayer that the university begins academic activities in the nearest future. However, by reason of my position as the Vice Chancellor of this institution, I’ll tell you that we shall commence full academic session in September this year, to the glory of God.
She went on to say this: “The ship of the Maritime University has berthed and we shall continue to sail on for higher and greater glory. I am one of you and we shall do our best, to make sure that the light will shine on. By my position, i do promise that we shall do our best in guiding the university to achieve its goals which the Management board has set.”
Earlier in his speech, HRH, Patani Heavens, Regent of Gbaramatu Kingdom, disclosed that they’ve been looking forward to this day, in which the school will fully commence and the community will grow academically.
please, do take note that we are happy this day is coming to pass. We are sure that with this visit the university will soon begin full academic session.”
Dr. Patrick Akpobolokemi, who is the current Director General, NIMASA, did promised that adequate funding of the university will be provided as the establishment of the university was one of the best achievements of his administration.
Dr. Patrick Akpobolokemi also noted that when former President Goodluck Jonathan heard their manifestoes, he had doubted the vision but gave his support and today the vision is has become a reality.
