THE Benue State University (bsu) which is located in Makurdi, Nigeria has released an official statement through the Dailyschoolnews Nigeria platform, that they had just matriculated a total of five thousand, two hundred and ten (5,210) students during the 23rd matriculation ceremony of the academic institution, which took place on Friday, the 6th of February, 2015.
According to information released to our news desk, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Charity Angya, said that the newly admitted students were selected out of the 7,457 candidates who sat for the 2014 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) and 3,343 who had applied through Direct Entry (D.E).
The VC also disclosed that the matriculation ceremony marked the formal admission of students into the university and advised them to pay attention to their studies and shun groups or behaviors that will harm them and their studies.
Professor Charity Angya also went on to stress that the university management had put in place adequate security measures to check improper dressing, cultism, drug abuse and examination misconduct among students.
The Vice Chancellor also went on, to urged students to be wary of some students they discuss or become friends with, so that they would not be negatively influenced by people of questionable character.
